New Plymouth, (Māori: Ngāmotu) is the major city of the Taranaki Region on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Named after the English city of Plymouth where the first English settlers migrated to in New Zealand, New Plymouth has established its reputation as an event centre, hosting major festivals and events like the TSB Bank Festival of Lights, WOMAD, ITU World Cup Triathlon and many others.
The city is well-known for its beautiful gardens, amongst which is the famous Pukekura Park, and for its coastal walkway that stretches for 13km.
