Tawhiti Museum

The Tawhiti Museum is a truly unique enterprise. The creation of artist Nigel Ogle, its attention to detail is simply stunning.
Widely acclaimed as the best private museum in the country, the museum uses life size exhibits and scale models to present our heritage in a series of super realistic and engaging displays.

All these displays are designed and built on the premises in the 'Body Shop' and accompanying studios, which can be viewed as part of a museum visit.

Pukekura Park

Often described as the jewel in New Plymouth's crown, Pukekura Park covers 52ha (128 acres) right in the heart of the city and is one of New Zealand's premier botanical gardens.
With a diverse range of landscapes, Pukekura Park features bush walks, formal gardens, lakes, children’s play areas, a sports area and a Tea House.

In summer it comes alive with the TSB Festival of Lights. It is also home to the acclaimed TSB Bowl of Brooklands and Brooklands Zpp.

Pukeiti

Explore a wonderland of rhododendrons planted within 360 hectares of rainforest, located between Mount Taranaki and the coast, just south of New Plymouth.
Established in 1951, Pukeiti is an internationally recognised garden with one of the most diverse collections of rhododendrons on display anywhere in the world. Take a short garden walk or a more challenging adventure and with either, sense another world and time. Feel the spiritual significance of Pukeiti to local tangata whenua and learn some of the language, knowledge and stories which are part of the land. New Plymouth Coastal Walkway

A great way to see New Plymouth!
The award-winning Coastal Walkway is a 12.7km path that forms an expansive sea-edge promenade stretching from Pioneer Park at Port Taranaki all the way to the eastern side of Bell Block Beach with numerous pedestrian access points dotted along the way.

The walkway is ideal for walking, running, cycling or skating, or simply enjoying the view of the dramatic west coast.

Govett-Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre

Pioneering, daring and what Len Lye called the 'swingiest art gallery in the antipodes', the Govett-Brewster is a contemporary art museum of the Pacific Rim, with an international reputation and reach.
The Len Lye Centre was opened in 2015 with a renewed vision and vigour to promote and develop contemporary art and the work and vision of Len Lye. The two venues offer complementary and contrasting programmes featuring the most provocative, audacious and confident works of art from New Zealand, the Pacific and around the world.
